Pistol for 50 cartridges

When you look at this gun for the first time, you get the impression that it was created primarily for American action heroes, who definitely should never run out of cartridges. Fortunately, a store of fifty "lead friends" contributes to long enough shooting without reloading. However, the significant active ammunition is far from the only feature of the Kel-Tech P50.

Usually, when the word gun is spoken, the phrase "concealed carry" is thought of before and after the sign. The latter requires sophistication, ergonomics and compact design. All of the above does not apply to the Kel-Tech P50 pistol. From the side, the weapon looks more like a prop from the filming of another episode of "Star Wars".

However, there is no need to doubt: the Kel-Tech P50 is a real combat pistol. It's just that his preferences over most of his relatives are frankly "unconventional".

The concept of the Kel-Tech P50 is quite simple: to achieve the maximum possible firepower in a small pistol body. This is possible thanks to two main points. The first is ammunition. As mentioned, the standard magazine of the pistol is designed for 50 rounds. The second is the used caliber. Fires Kel Tec P5 cartridges 5.7×28 mm. This ammunition was developed by FN Herstal at the end of the last century, specifically on the order of NATO, as a means against Soviet body armor. This cartridge still penetrates most bulletproof vests today due to its shape, small caliber and high initial bullet speed of 600-700 m/s.

The new American pistol has a very interesting layout. Its design resembles a multi-layered sandwich, in which the store is placed between two moving elements. The top of the gun folds back like a car hood does. Interestingly, the chamber in the Kel-Tech P50 is located in the upper part, which clearly indicates that the American designers who designed this weapon were largely inspired by the Belgian school. It is also worth noting that the pistol magazine is by no means original. In fact, the designers simply borrowed it from the Belgian FN P90 submachine gun.

The weapon was developed at the beginning of 2021. The semi-automatic pistol has dimensions of 380x170x50 mm. When equipped, the weapon weighs 1.43 kg. It is assumed that this miracle will be sold in the USA, in particular, and on the civilian weapons market. It was for this purpose that the pistol was made semi-automatic. It will cost, as the creators assure, about 1 thousand dollars.
